Job 6:21
Print
For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down and are afraid.
For now ye are nothing; Ye see a terror, and are afraid.
“Indeed, you have now become like a dried-up stream, You see a terror [believing me to be a victim of the wrath of God] and are afraid [to be compassionate].
Now to me you are [like a dried-up brook]; you see my dismay and terror, and [believing me to be a victim of God’s anger] you are afraid [to sympathize with me].
For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
So this is what you have now become to me. When you see something dreadful, you are afraid.
That’s what you are like; you see something awful and are afraid.
“For now, you have become like that — just seeing my calamity makes you afraid.
just as I am with you. Only one look at my suffering, and you run away scared.
So now ye are nothing; ye see a terrible object and are afraid.
Now you are come: and now seeing my affliction you are afraid.
Now, you are like those streams. You see my troubles and are afraid.
My friends, you have become like those streams. You see my great problem, and you are afraid.
Now that is what you are like! You have seen something dreadful and you panic.
For you have now become nothing; you see my calamity and are afraid.
For you have now become nothing; you see my calamity and are afraid.
You ·also have been no help [L become like this to me]. You see something terrible, and you are afraid.
Surely now are ye like unto it: ye have seen my fearful plague, and are afraid.
“So you are as unreliable to me ⌞as they are⌟. You see something terrifying, and you are afraid.
You are like those streams to me, you see my fate and draw back in fear.
So this is what you have now become to me. When you see something dreadful, you are afraid.
You also have been no help. You see something terrible, and you are afraid.
“And now you’re all just like them, aren’t you? You see my terror and are terrified.
Now ye are certainly as they; ye have seen the torment and are afraid.
For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
Indeed, you have now become such; You see a terror and are afraid.
“For now you have become such; you see terrors, and you fear.
When caravans from Tema and from Sheba stop for water there, their hopes are dashed. And so my hopes in you are dashed—you turn away from me in terror and refuse to help.
“When desperate people give up on God Almighty, their friends, at least, should stick with them. But my brothers are fickle as a gulch in the desert— one day they’re gushing with water From melting ice and snow cascading out of the mountains, But by midsummer they’re dry, gullies baked dry in the sun. Travelers who spot them and go out of their way for a drink end up in a waterless gulch and die of thirst. Merchant caravans from Tema see them and expect water, tourists from Sheba hope for a cool drink. They arrive so confident—but what a disappointment! They get there, and their faces fall! And you, my so-called friends, are no better— there’s nothing to you! One look at a hard scene and you shrink in fear. It’s not as though I asked you for anything— I didn’t ask you for one red cent— Nor did I beg you to go out on a limb for me. So why all this dodging and shuffling?
For now you are nothing; you see terror and are afraid.
“So you are as unreliable to me as they are. You see something terrifying, and you are afraid.
It is thus that you have now become for me; you see a terrifying thing and are afraid.
Indeed, you have now become such, You see terrors and are afraid.
“Indeed, you have now become such, You see a terror and are afraid.
In much the same way you have dealt with me; you are stunned at my plight and are terrified.
You also have been no help. You see something terrible, and you are afraid.
For now you have become like these streams that are no help; you see a terror, and are afraid.
And now, my friends, you haven’t helped me either. You see the horrible condition I’m in. And that makes you afraid.
Now you too have proved to be of no help; you see something dreadful and are afraid.
Now you too have proved to be of no help; you see something dreadful and are afraid.
For now you are nothing, You see terror and are afraid.
Yes, this is how you have been. You see my trouble and are afraid.
You, too, have given no help. You have seen my calamity, and you are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity, and are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity, and are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity, and are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity and are afraid.
For now ye are become such; ye see my chatat (casting down), and are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity, and are afraid.
Such you have now become to me; you see my calamity, and are afraid.
“Indeed, now you have become nothing; you see a terror and are afraid.
Now you, too, have come to nothing. You see my terror and are afraid for yourselves.
For now you are nothing. You see a terror, and are afraid.
Now ye be come, and now ye see my wound, and dread (and ye fear it).
Surely now ye have become the same! Ye see a downfall, and are afraid.
